·  Responsible for day to day operations for public works and water and sewer operations including sanitation, recycling, fleet maintenance and Stormwater management

·  Responsible for emergency preparedness for the city

·  City operates two (2) wastewater treatment plants one (1) water treatment plant

·  Provide oversight for the following departments: engineering, transportation, public works, water and sewer, stormwater, facilities maintenance, city cemetery, arbor division and municipal auditorium

 

Accomplishments

·  Successfully implemented single-stream recycling city wide

·  Prepared and received $425,000 Regional recycle HUB grant

·  Received 2007 Trendsetter City of Excellence Municipal Trendsetter Award

·  Managed & Directed all coordination with state and federal (FEMA) agencies after 2009 presidential disaster declaration; provided regular briefings with top state and congressional elected officials

·  Responsible for the administration and maintenance of over 1,600 miles of city streets

·  Responsible for day-to-day management of the construction, repair, installation and maintenance of water/sewer distribution and/or transmission lines in Miami-Dad’s water/wastewater system

·  FEMA declarations, reporting, and management.  One of the first municipal governments to utilize the installation of pipelines using trenchless technology.  Annual personnel budget of 430 positions with an annual operating budget of approximately $30 million.
